Empowering Young Minds, Inspiring Futures in Health Sciences
Building interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) starts with giving young people opportunities to see, explore and experience these fields to spark curiosity, fuel ambition and open them to a world of possibilities.
As part of this effort, Boitekanelo College is creating opportunities for young learners to engage with science beyond the classroom and discover the possibilities within health sciences through our annual Health Sciences Week.
The 2026 edition brought together learners from Rainbow Schools, Legae Academy, Oriel International, Maruapula Schools and Kagiso Senior School for an immersive experience within our health sciences environment.
Over the course of the week, learners explored our laboratories, conducted practical experiments, participated in simulations and gained insights into the wide range of careers available within healthcare.
The experience offered learners more than an introduction to health sciences. It gave them an opportunity to see what happens beyond the textbook - to experiment, ask questions, interact with different areas of healthcare and begin connecting what they learn in school with real-world possibilities.
For us, Health Sciences Week is about creating that exposure early, nurturing curiosity and helping young people recognise that the sciences they are studying today can open doors to meaningful careers tomorrow. It is also part of our role in supporting Botswana's STEM agenda by creating meaningful opportunities for learners to engage with science in practical and inspiring ways.
We are grateful to all the participating schools and learners for being part of this year's Health Sciences Week and for making it such an insightful exchange.
We look forward to next year's edition, when we hope to welcome even more schools and continue expanding opportunities for young people to explore the possibilities of health sciences.
