QUARM Club Connects Students to the World of Work
Your CV may tell an employer what you have done, but your digital footprint can tell them much more about who you are. This was the conversation at the heart of Digital Footprints Beyond the CV, the launch event of Boitekanelo College’s newest student club, the BC Quantitative Analysis & Risk Management (BC Quarm) Club.
The session challenged students to think more intentionally about how they present themselves in digital spaces and what their online presence communicates to potential employers, professional networks and future collaborators. In a world where digital platforms increasingly form part of professional identity, the discussion offered students an opportunity to look beyond the traditional CV and consider the broader picture they are creating about themselves.
Brand specialist Boago Jackson and QUARM Foundation founder Tshegofatso Sanoto facilitated the session, bringing practical perspectives on personal branding, professional visibility and navigating digital spaces with greater intention.
The BC Quarm Club has been established as a platform for connecting students with industry, professionals and real-world opportunities - creating spaces where they can engage with ideas and experiences that extend beyond their academic programmes.
For students preparing for professional careers, these connections can be valuable. Exposure to industry perspectives gives them an opportunity to understand expectations beyond the classroom, while engaging directly with professionals can help them build confidence, networks and a clearer sense of how to position themselves in the world of work.
Such initiative also adds another dimension to the student experience at Boitekanelo College. Student clubs can become spaces where learning takes a different form -through conversations, collaboration, experimentation and exposure to people working beyond the College environment.
That broader experience complements the College’s focus on quality education and training. While students develop the technical knowledge required in their respective fields, opportunities such as these allow them to develop the professional awareness and confidence needed to put that knowledge into practice.
The launch of BC Quarm signals the beginning of a platform with room to grow. Its focus on industry engagement and real-world exposure creates opportunities for students to take a more active role in shaping their professional development while still at college.
