Answering that calling is precisely what we prepare our students to do.
The School of Leadership sits at the intersection of health systems and management education, developing students who can lead confidently within complex healthcare environments. Our academic identity is rooted in practical, applied leadership — weaving managerial theory directly into real healthcare operations rather than teaching them as separate disciplines. Through our four programs students build both strategic and technical competencies, from planning and organizing health services to managing patient data and information systems to overseeing hospital operations from end to end, all in response to the growing demand for capable healthcare leadership.
To sharpen this focus, the school has adopted the competency framework used by Healthcare Executive, assessing students across communication, professionalism, leadership, and business skills tailored to the management challenges facing Botswana's health sector and the wider region. We bring this to life through interactive case studies, real-world scenarios, and hands-on exercises. Ultimately, our graduates gain not only the confidence to inspire and motivate others, but the skill to manage people effectively — building the kind of positive, high-performing workplace culture where strategic goals are inevitably achieved
