Department Leadership
Mr David Kanje is a development professional, academic, community practitioner and leader with over 30 years of experience in development work, teaching, training, counselling, consultancy, mentorship and institutional leadership. He began his career as a Social Worker in 1995 and progressed to become Head of the Social and Community Development Department at Mahalapye District Council in 2003, where he gained extensive experience in case management, community services and leadership while supervising more than 30 staff members.
After completing his Master’s degree, Mr Kanje joined UNICEF in 2006 as a Child Protection Specialist and later served as a Programme Advisor at Project Concern International and Country Director at the Regional Psychosocial Support Initiative (REPSSI). These roles strengthened his expertise in strategic leadership, programme management, staff mentorship and supervision, psychosocial support, and community development. In 2016, he also established a consultancy company focused on personal development training, psychosocial support and mentorship.
Mr Kanje currently serves as Head of the Department of Community Development at Boitekanelo College, where he also contributes as a lecturer and institutional leader. He coordinated the College’s response to the 2025 flood disaster in Tlokweng, serves on the Disciplinary Committee and Staff Welfare Committee, and leads community engagement initiatives. He is committed to ethical leadership, professional excellence, human development and meaningful stakeholder collaboration.
