OT Connect Leads Mental Health Awareness Campaign at Mogoditshane Senior Secondary School
The Boitekanelo College Occupational Therapy Student Body, OT Connect, hosted an inspiring mental health awareness event at Mogoditshane Senior Secondary School under the theme: H.O.P.E.ing is Coping: Creating Safe Spaces for Mental Health Conversations. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about mental health, encourage open dialogue, and promote emotional resilience among students. Through storytelling, expert discussions, and creative performances, OT Connect created a supportive platform for learners to reflect on mental well-being and the vital role of occupational therapy in mental health care.
Highlights included a powerful personal story, Turning Struggle into Purpose, an engaging panel discussion on Balancing School Life and Mental Health, and captivating performances by the school’s drama group and choir. OT Connect concluded with an insightful presentation on The Role of Occupational Therapy in Mental Health, emphasizing how occupational therapists empower individuals to lead balanced and meaningful lives. The event was graced by the Deputy School Head, the Guidance and Counselling Committee, the Dean of the School of Rehabilitation Sciences, OT Connect Patron Mr. Justus Nthitu, and members of the Occupational Therapy Department, all of whom commended the students for their impactful advocacy and commitment to mental health awareness.
