Boitekanelo College was proud to participate in the Africa Day celebrations hosted by Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University in South Africa (formerly the Medical University of Southern Africa, MEDUNSA), where our Provost and Founder, Dr Tiro Mampane, returned to his alma mater as keynote speaker under the theme “Time to Be Bold.”
The engagement reflected the growing collaboration between the two institutions, building on an existing MOU centred on academic exchange, research, and shared learning within the health sciences space.
Through a heartfelt and inspiring address, Dr Mampane encouraged students to take “big bets” on themselves, emphasising the importance of seizing opportunities rather than being observers, and building a mindset grounded in continuous learning, growth, and reinvention. He further reminded students that in a rapidly changing world, qualifications alone are not enough, and the future belongs to those who keep learning, keep improving, and keep evolving.
The celebration also came alive through culture and performance, with the Boitekanelo College traditional dance group delivering a vibrant display that filled the space with rhythm, energy, and confidence, drawing everyone into the moment and creating a shared experience of joy and connection.
This Africa day reminds us all to be bold in our thinking, bold in our actions, bold in our innovations, and bold in our belief in Africa and in ourselves.
Let us dream big, Let us be the generation that finally unlocks everything Africa was always meant to be.
