Boitekanelo College Engages Healthcare Partners on Workforce Development, Training Priorities & Innovation in Healthcare Education

Boitekanelo College recently hosted its hospital stakeholders for an engagement session aimed at strengthening collaboration between academia and industry while aligning healthcare training with the evolving needs of the sector.
The session brought together stakeholders from across Botswana’s healthcare sector, including representatives from Sidilega Private Hospital, Diagnofirm Medical Laboratories, Princess Marina Hospital, Bokamoso Private Hospital, Kalafhi Medical Center and Sir Ketumile Masire Teaching Hospital-SKMTH,  - some of the key partners in the clinical training, placement, and employment of Boitekanelo College students and graduates.
Discussions centered around workforce development, institutional training needs, and opportunities for the College to create greater value for both healthcare professionals and the hospitals they serve. Stakeholders also toured the College’s facilities and simulation laboratories, gaining insight into the practical and industry-aligned learning environment shaping future healthcare professionals.
Speaking during the engagement, Mr. Mopedi Lesolame, Director of Quality Assurance, emphasized the importance of continuous collaboration between training institutions and industry to ensure healthcare education remains responsive and aligned with sector demands.
Dr. Tiro Mampane, Provost and Founder of Boitekanelo College, reflected on the institution’s 19-year journey in healthcare education while sharing the College’s vision for future growth and innovation. Among the developments highlighted was the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding with the Chobe District Council to support the development of a Medical Tourism Hub in Kasane under the Botswana Economic Transformation Programme (BETP).
Stakeholders commended the College for its continued contribution to healthcare education, noting that the quality of training delivered by Boitekanelo College is reflected in the competence, professionalism, and industry readiness demonstrated by students during clinical attachment.
Through engagements such as these, Boitekanelo College continues to strengthen strategic partnerships that contribute to the advancement of healthcare education, training and service delivery in Botswana.
