Boitekanelo College is proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU) in Ga-Rankuwa, South Africa. Our Provost, Dr. Tiroyaone Mampane, who studied at SMU was delighted to return to his alma mater for this special occasion.
This milestone collaboration was spearheaded by the Speech-Language Therapy and Audiology departments from both institutions, led by Prof. Refilwe Morwane (Boitekanelo) and Dr. Samantha Govender (SMU).
The signing ceremony was attended by the Dean of the School of Rehabilitation, Prof. Oswell Khondowe, alongside Heads of Departments from Audiology, Counselling, Radiography, and Occupational Therapy.
The MoU establishes opportunities for joint research projects, staff and student exchange programs, and interprofessional education – strengthening collaboration in rehabilitation sciences across the region.
We are deeply grateful to SMU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Tandi Matsha-Erasmus (Vice-Chancellor), Prof. Dini Mawela (Acting DVC: Academic and Research), and Prof. Douglas Maleka (Dean: School of Health Care Sciences) for the warm welcome, and to the Internationalisation Office, coordinated by Ms. Carlien Jooste, for making this partnership possible.
