The School of Nursing recently hosted a special motivational session for our first-year nursing students. The session was graced by Mr. Peter Baleseng, President of the Botswana Nurses Union, who was invited as a guest lecturer by Professor Mogobe, Dean of the School of Nursing.
This invitation carried a special meaning Mr. Baleseng was once a student of Professor Mogobe during his own nursing training. Today, he stands not only as a proud alumnus but also as a national leader and advocate for the nursing profession.

Speaking to the newly enrolled first-year nursing students, Mr. Baleseng shared his personal journey of growthvtracing the path from humble beginnings as a nursing student, to professional practice, and ultimately to leadership at the national stage. His story stood as living proof that with discipline and resilience students can rise beyond the classroom to influence healthcare and society at large.
He urged students to approach their 4thyear journey with seriousness, reminding them that nursing is a calling rooted in compassion, service, and professionalism. The road ahead, he said, will not always be easy, but each challenge will serve as a stepping stone toward becoming not just skilled practitioners, but also ethical and empathetic caregivers.
